When thinking about working with children and
families from diverse backgrounds it is my hope that I will be versatile in
making all families feel welcomed and appreciated so that together we can co-construct
knowledge and create meaningful partnerships that will support my vision of a
society where every individual has access to the resources needed to live a
fulfilling life in order to effect social change.
With this vision in mind, one goal I would like to
set for the early childhood field is to advocate for the eradication of institutionalized
isms so that we can lessen the gap between internalized privilege and
oppression and give everyone an opportunity to reach their optimum.
I wish to thank Dr. Williams and you my classmates
for aiding in the co-construction of knowledge. The sharing of your personal experiences and
stories really helped me put some of the lessons learned into perspective. I wish you all the best as we continue our
professional journey.
